Hyundai to Develop Compact Pickup Truck for U.S. Customers

Recently, Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com reported that Hyundai has given approval for the company to begin production on a compact pickup truck that will be heavily influenced by the Santa Cruz concept the company showed two years ago at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

According to Michael O'Brien, Vice President of Product Planning, a production version of the truck could be on our roads as soon as 2018, with the Santa Cruz marking a renewed emphasis on trucks and crossover SUVs by the manufacturer.

Details about the Santa Cruz are still scarce, but it's expected that the vehicle will offer a conventional gas engine rather than the turbodiesel exhibited in Detroit. We're looking forward to seeing the final design, as there's still debate on whether the truck will be a car-based small truck or a more conventional pickup that will be larger than the original concept.

Our dealership at 775 Rockland Road in Lake Bluff proudly serves drivers from the Palatine, Long Grove, Waukegan and Buffalo Grove areas.
